The Life of the Church

At First Presbyterian Church we believe the church is more than just a building, it is the community of people which make up the congregation.  We also know that we are called to reach beyond the walls of our building and outside the edges of our congregation to reach into the community, because that is where part of our mission lies.

This dual calling takes place in two spaces.

The first is the weekly message in the sanctuary and at Veteran's Park.  We believe in the importance of the Word Read, and the Word Spoken.  We believe our God speaks to us through scripture, and the scripture needs to be read to the community.  The community needs to gather as a congregation and the scripture, along with being read, also needs to be interpreted and explained with a message to show how it impacts our daily lives.

The second is through outreach into the community, our Special Events.  This an effort which goes beyond our normal activities and includes sharing church information or announcing special programs.  It is keeping the congregation and the local community informed of what we are doing and how they may participate.

The Weekly Message

First Presbyterian hosts two congregations each week.

There is our 9:30 AM service in the Church Sanctuary.  This is a more traditional service with the typical praise team, organ and piano music, choir, prayers of the people, scripture reading and message.

At 11:00 AM we host Worship in the Park, an informal service in Veteran's Park, across from the Santa Paula City Hall.  While still a complete service with music, prayers, scripture and message, it is designed for people who believe in the salvation of Christ and the sovereignty of God, but do not feel comfortable in the setting of the traditional church.

In this section you will find a bulletin summary for each service for the coming week, and a video of the Sunday Service.
